De tuin van Soelaas
October 2024
Marielle Schuurman, Vanessa Oostijen and I have made a large tent that covered the garden that belongs to ‘De Katoendrukkerij’, an ancient building in the city centre of Amersfoort.
We received left over linen from By Mölle to use for this ‘tabernacle’.
The idea was to make a Garden of solace. A place to find quiet and to be inspired with simple beauty.
We started in March of 2024 with sowing flax seeds in my atelier garden. After that we grew the ideas around this project. Then we started dying the linen with natural materials such as madder, avocado and onion. patchworking the pieces together into big cloths was pure fun.
Such a joy to work together, using our six hands, three minds and sharing all of our thoughts on life.
During the opening we finally saw what we had been aiming for, all those months. Naomi and Rosa (Maanzusters) shared their music in the garden and our guests could dwell in this still place and listen to the the fairy-like tunes they made.
